About:

"Photography and music. My two loves, going way back. When I turned 16 late in '68, a driver's license freed me to attend Chicago's best venues for the best bands of the day. Now with a Nikkormat and a 28mm lens over my shoulder and my friends pointing the way, we'd usually arrive at a venue in the middle of the first band's set. When that ended, the crowd would thin affording us a chance to push through to the front for the best possible view. I shot in black & white, sometimes with a flash, mostly without, then processed and printed the few good ones back in in my mother's laundry room."

ART KANE

Art Kane photographed Jim Morrison & The Doors in May 1968 and the photos were altered and printed in the June 28th, 1968 issue of LIFE Magazine. Clean prints are currently handled by Art's estate at ArtKane.com

Website:
http://www.ArtKane.com

About:

"Art Kane (1925 - 1995) was one of the most influential photographers of the twentieth century. A bold visionary, Kane’s work encompassed fashion, editorial, celebrity portraiture, travel, and nudes with a relentless and innovative eye. Like his contemporaries, Guy Bourdin (1928 - 1991) and Helmut Newton (1924 - 2004), Kane gravitated toward strong color, eroticism and surreal humor."

Photographer's Notes:

"Kane photographed Jim Morrison in the closet of his room at L.A.'s Chateau Marmont hotel. He had an electrician move the television in to the closet, and asked Morrison to kneel behind it and change channels, capturing many different broadcasts and Morrison's moods and reactions. Finally choosing the blond starlet as his principle image, other interesting frames include Morrison with President Johnson, The Newlywed Game, and the 'The End' logo of a paramount picture."

FRANK LISCIANDRO

Photographer, friend, and companion to Jim Morrison, Frank Lisciandro is perhaps the most well known photographer of Jim Morrison without The Doors present. He is responsible for hundreds of photographs, offering high quality archival prints made available from his website. Also available, although out-of-print, is 'An Hour For Magic' - a photo journal by Frank Lisciandro which includes many well known prints of Jim and The Doors, as well as 'A Feast of Friends', also published by Frank.

Photographer's Notes:

"All prints are made on archival heavy weight quality photo paper using archival inks. This means that the prints are fade resistant for 200 plus years if kept properly framed. Each print is dated, signed and numbered. The images shown on the site can only suffice to show subject matter and composition; they can not even hint at the beauty and elegance of the prints we are offering. You can also order a print from one of my books, "An Hour for Magic" or "Feast of Friends". (Although both books are out-of-print, you can often find them on eBay or Alibri Books. Just let me know the book title and the page number."
