Info:

In November 1970, a film crew from ABC Australia's ten minute magazine show GTK (Get To Know) travels to Los Angeles to capture footage of various bands and events for their audiences, and The Doors workshop is visited. Lost and later re-discovered in 2007, this forgotten footage features a full black and white performance of Crawling King Snake shot during the L.A. Woman sessions.

GTK first aired on August 4th, 1969 and ran until 1974 where it was replaced by Countdown. Original broadcasts are 10 minutes in length and air shortly before the 7:00pm ABC News from Monday to Thursday. Programming is aimed at Australian youth who sought more than what local television and radio could provide, and artists such as The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and Mungo Jerry are regularly featured with a performance and interview segment. The Doors performance is shot and broadcast in black & white as full-time color transmissions would not become available in Australia until March 1st, 1975. Although the master tapes have mainly been wiped, backup videotape of the Crawling King Snake has survived and been released on The Doors 40th Anniversary boxset Perception and 2013's R-Evolution.

Notes on the production of this performance indicate that a Nagra audio recorder was set up in the studio by the crew, and that a short interview with Jim Morrison had also taken place. There is currently no indication that the master tapes have survived, or if the interview was used in the final broadcast.
