"My friend Bruce Dunnet was working on a pointillism style painting (lots of dots) in High School art class. I saw it evolving on canvas over time. Bruce painted various rock star dignitaries snoozing inside a tour bus, including most noticeably Robby Krieger & Eric Clapton.
Upon completion of the painting, which was about 15 x 25" (approx.) he took it to The Doors Other Voices concert in Toronto (St. Lawrence Market), back on Nov. 14, 1971. The show also featured Whisky Howl. Due to some unforeseen circumstances the 2 shows were merged into one. Bruce held the painting up & Robby noticed it & had him go backstage after the show. Robby signed posters from the show for Bruce and liked the painting so much he traded Bruce a small Fender amp for it!
I acquired one of the signed posters, just signed "Robby", "Ray", "John Densmore" & "Bruce Botnick" (who was also there), but sadly lost it years ago. The poster was basic B&W with no artwork. Bruce now resides in France with his family & still has that treasured amplifier. I wonder if Robby still has the painting?
I did not make the show, but heard all about it days later from Bruce & his brother Keith."
